- Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig -

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – About 25 suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels swooped down on a police detachment in Cagayan last Wednesday night, divesting the lawmen of their firearms, belated reports said.

In a report, Senor Superintendent Mao Ranada Aplasca, Cagayan police director, said the insurgents seized four M-16 Armalite rifles and a .45-caliber pistol from the police detachment in Barangay Labben, Allacapan town.

Earlier that day, suspected guerrillas also torched multimillion-peso logging equipment in Barangay Usol in Jones, Isabela.
