- Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe -

MANILA, Philippines - A female mountain climber died after falling from a 250-foot cliff and landing on a rocky portion on Mt. Batulao in Nasugbu, Batangas on Wednesday, authorities said.

Police said Diana Fajardo, 27, manager of an establishment, died due to head and body injuries.

Superintendent Renato Mercado, Nasugbu police chief, said Fajardo and five companions, all from Cainta, Rizal, went to Barangay Kaylaway, Nasugbu town to go mountain climbing.

Upon reaching the elevated portion of Peak 8 on Mt. Batulao, police said Fajardo started taking pictures, but apparently lost her balance and fell off the cliff.

Mercado led a team from the Batangas police, 730th Combat Group, and Philippine Red Cross-Batangas chapter in retrieving Fajardo’s body.
