Lawmaker's 2 nephews ambushed
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Seven men armed with assault rifles seriously wounded two nephews of Maguindanao Rep. Simeon Datumanong in an ambush in Ampatuan, Maguindanao yesterday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Marcelo Pintac, Maguindanao police director, said the victims, Nasrudin Rakman, 52, and Ombus Mamison, 48, were on their way to a relative’s corn farm in Upper Kauran, Ampatuan town onboard a jeep when armed men flagged them down and shot them with M-16 and M-14 rifles.
The ambushers immediately escaped toward a nearby hinterland, leaving the two cousins bloodied and unconscious.
Police were still clueless on the ambush.
