Police hunt controversial trader anew
DAVAO CITY ,Philippines – Police authorities here launched a manhunt for Alan Bigcas, a businessman who was implicated in the smuggling of luxury cars from the United States.
Bigcas is now facing frustrated homicide charges after he allegedly shot a lawyer here last Sunday along F. Torres street. Davao City police office director Senior Superintenent Ronald de la Rosa said charges of frustrated homicide and illegal possession of firearms would be filed against Bigcas after he shot lawyer Miguel Palma Gil.
Gil is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Davao City while Bigcas reportedly fled after the incident.
Bigcas was earlier implicated in the smuggling of luxury cars from the United States, including a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was previously stolen from a Hollywood scriptwriter.
Police discovered the smuggled vehicles in two houses owned by Bigcas in Cagayan de Oro City and in Talakag, Bukidnon after a raid was conducted by local law enforcers with the assistance of agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
De la Rosa said Bigcas was driving his car and was accompanied by lawyer Aimee Salisi, a former girlfriend of Gil.
Police investigators said Gil was driving his car along F. Torres street and noticed another car following him. He stopped his vehicle and got out of the car.
De la Rosa said Bigcas shot Gil when he alighted from his car.
