'JDV likely to make political comeback in 2013'

- Eva Visperas -

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Pangasinan fourth district Rep. Gina de Venecia yesterday said her husband, former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. (JDV), would most likely make a political comeback in the next elections as congressman.

At present, she said there is 60 percent possibility this may happen.

The congresswoman told The STAR that recent events in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona have made her and her husband realize that he should return to Congress.

“We are still studying this because in the recent events, we saw politicians who have a lot of experience like Senator-Judge Juan Ponce Enrile, and lawyer Serafin Cuevas of the defense panel. They are very good and we feel that we really need people who could help the government and the country,” she said.

“And JDV definitely is qualified for that,” she added.

She said her husband, a five-time Speaker, “is like another Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile and Serafin Cuevas because he knows many things and he can teach younger congressmen.”

“He is fit for that position (in Congress),” she added.

Asked where she would go to in case her husband succeeds her in her post, she said, “Secret.”

“Maybe a local position,” she added.
