2 soldiers slain in Negros encounter

MANILA, Philippines - Two soldiers were killed while another was wounded in a clash with communist rebels yesterday in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Capt. Leo Cunanan, spokesman for the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, said troops from the 62nd Infantry Battalion had been patrolling an area in Barangay Andres Bonifacio when they encountered the rebels.
Cunanan said the wounded soldier was brought to the St. Anne District Hospital in Cadiz City.
