Still no leads in Bulacan businesswoman's killing

- Dino Balabo -

MALOLOS CITY ,Philippines  – Police were still clueless on who shot dead a businesswoman who had filed car theft charges against detained carjacking syndicate leader Raymond Dominguez, here last Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Fernando Mendez, acting Bulacan police director, told The STAR yesterday that they still had no suspects in the killing of Cristina Bruan Rojas, 51, proprietor of a gasoline station in Paombong town.

Mendez said Rojas filed charges against Dominguez last year after her Toyota Fortuner was stolen in this city.

Rojas, he said, was here yesterday to attend a hearing of the case but it was postponed.

Investigators said Rojas boarded a passenger jeepney along the MacArthur Highway, just about 200 meters from the provincial capitol and 100 meters from a police sub-station.

The gunman also boarded the jeepney and moments later, shot her in the head. He then got off and escaped on a waiting motorcycle.

Investigator PO2 Danilo Torres said they were still trying to determine the motive behind the killing, but did not discount the possibility that it could be related to the car theft case that Rojas filed against Dominguez.

Dominguez and his brother Roger are locked up in jail and being tried for the killings of car dealers Venson Evangelista and Emerson Lozano and the latter’s driver Ernani Sensil. – With Ric Sapnu
