3 dead as 2 rival MILF groups clash

MLANG, North Cotabato ,Philippines  – Three guerrillas were killed while three others were wounded as two rival groups of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) clashed yesterday near the Liguasan Delta.

Mayor Joselito Piñol said the two groups, one led by Abel Manwang and the other by Rudy Blasim, clashed using assault rifles and B-40 anti-tank rockets, forcing dozens of families to flee their homes.

“These two groups are fighting for control of a patch of land in Barangay Dugong, which is a known rebel stronghold,” Piñol said.
