P19.65-M hot logs seized in Region 11

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) yesterday said 4,319 cubic meters of undocumented forest products with an estimated market value of P19.65 million were confiscated in Region 11 last year.

Region 11 Executive Director Jim Sampulna said at least 2,788 cubic meters of the seized forest products were donated to the Department of Education-Region 11.

Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy said at least 11,995 school chairs and desks made out of the confiscated logs were donated to the city.

The DENR said 117 bunk beds were also made out of the seized logs and donated to the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police and 52 hospital beds that were donated to the provincial government of Compostela Valley.

At least 685 armchairs and 427 desks were also donated to Davao Oriental.
