Grenade blast rocks Cotabato
COTABATO CITY ,Philippines – A grenade explosion rocked the 32-hectare regional center of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) here yesterday afternoon.
No one was reported killed or injured in the blast but the incident triggered panic among the employees of nearby offices.
ARMM security and intelligence services personnel found a safety lever of an M-67 fragmentation grenade at the scene of the explosion, not far from the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex.
The grenade went off in a grassy area near the office of the Philippine Information Agency, about 50 meters away from the security detachment of the 7th Marine Battalion Landing Team.
Authorities are still investigating who could have set the grenade off and the motive for the explosion.
