Dynamite blast kills 3 in Zambo

MANILA, Philippines - A man reportedly despondent because his wife wanted to leave him lit a piece of dynamite, killing himself, his wife and one of their sons yesterday in Zamboanga City.

Reports reaching Camp Crame identified the fatalities as Agsali Subbaani, his wife Jannuka and their son Pansidal Agsali, 17.

Zamboanga City police chief Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo said the three died during the explosion in their house at Purok 4 in Rio Hondo in Zamboanga City.

De Ocampo said Pasig Agsali, 11; Singa Agsali, 10; Puja Agsali, 9; and Goa-goa Agsali, 7, suffered injuries in different parts of the body and were brought to Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment.

He said investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the Subbaani couple had an argument.

De Ocampo gave assurance that the incident was not tied to any terrorist activity even as he ordered the police to look into the possible proliferation of dynamite fishing in the area. – Ben Serrano, Cecille Suerte Felipe
