5 dead in Compostela Valley vehicular accident

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Five people died while several others were injured when the passenger van they were riding slammed into a truck that was parked on the highway in Montevista, Compostela Valley.

A report from the Southern Mindanao regional police office said the van, which had 17 passengers, was on its way to Davao City from Butuan City.

The injured were brought to different hospitals in the area including the Davao Regional Medical Center in the capital town of Tagum City in Davao del Norte.

Witnesses said the driver did not notice the early warning device put up before the parked truck because he was speeding.
