2 dead, Agusan councilor wounded in shooting incident

BUTUAN CITY ,Philippines  – Two persons were killed while a town councilor and a miner were wounded in a shooting incident in Purok 3, Barangay Wasi-an, Rosario, Agusan del Sur Sunday.

The Caraga police regional information office identified the casualties as Crispiniano Dumayas Ybañez, 26, miner, a resident of said place and one unidentified person believed to be one of the suspects. Wounded were Wasi-an town councilor and barangay captain Eduardo de Paz and Norma Pugay.

 Initial investigation showed that De Paz, Ybañez and Pugay were having breakfast along the national highway in Barangay Wasi-an while waiting for their cars to be cleaned in a car wash shop when three men on a motorcycle shot them.

De Paz fired back with his .45 caliber pistol and hit one of the suspects who died on the spot.

Authorities said the suspects could be hired killers.
