Housing project eyed for Aurora employees

- Manny Galvez -

BALER, Aurora, Philippines – A village complete with facilities is set to be built for some 1,000 capitol employees here as one of the legacies of the outgoing administration of three-term Gov. Bellaflor Angara-Castillo.

Angara-Castillo told newsmen that the subdivision-type housing project will give priority to employees who do not own houses or just rent their dwellings.

She said each of the beneficiaries will rent the house then later own it under a rent-to-own scheme.

“I want this housing project to be one of my biggest legacies to my official capitol family once I step down as governor in 2013,” she said.

Angara-Castillo said her administration conceived the housing project after learning that a number of capitol employees do not even have their own houses.

“They cannot even afford to have a house they can call their own. I think it’s high time that they have their own house which they can rent and later own and use the money for rental instead to pay for other expenses,” she said.

The provincial government is eyeing either Barangay Pingit or Reserva as site of the housing project.
