LINGAYEN, Philippines – The towns of Lingayen, Mangaldan and Manaoag bagged top honors in the choral, folk dance and zarzuela contests in the grand finals of the first Pangasinan Culture and Arts Festival held at the Sison Auditorium here last Friday.
During the fest dubbed as “Balitok A Tawir,” 14 local government units in the province, represented by their respective officials and employees, performed local songs and dances which the provincial government led by Gov. Amado Espino Jr. wants to revive and preserve.
The project was launched during the Tourism Month celebration last September with the aim of recapturing and rediscovering the culture and arts of Pangasinan.
The event was capped by the ceremonial lighting of the 45-foot Christmas tree at the capitol plaza.
The prizes will be awarded to the winning towns during the LGU Night Christmas celebration on Dec. 16.
