Laguna's 'butcher killer' shot dead

MANILA, Philippines - A man dubbed as Laguna’s “butcher killer” was shot dead Monday when he tried to escape by grabbing the service firearm and overpowering one of his police escorts.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said Noah Macabascon, alias Toti, 34, sustained a gunshot wound in the chest and died while being rushed to a hospital.

Cruz said Macabascon was tagged as a “butcher killer” as he cut the bodies of most of his victims into pieces.

He said the latest victim of Macabascon’s gang was a jeepney driver from Lumban, Quezon, whose body parts were placed in two trash bags found in Barangay Sulib, Pangil town last Friday.           

Macabascon and three cohorts were arrested in Pakil town last Monday.
