Robbery gang members nabbed

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna ,Philippines  – A robbery gang leader and three of his cohorts were arrested in an encounter with police in Pakil, Laguna, authorities said yesterday.

Laguna police director, Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, identified two of the four arrested suspects as Noh Macabasco, alias Toti, 34, tagged as “Laguna’s butcher killer”; Ivan Huge; and two unidentified companions.

Cruz said the gang is responsible for the series of robberies of passenger buses plying the Manila-Laguna-Quezon route. He said the gang’s latest victim was 49-year-old jeepney driver Edgardo Ebarvia, a resident of Barangay Bagong Silang, Lumban, Quezon, whose body was found wrapped into two black trash bag in Sitio Lam-ao, Barangay Sulib, Pangil, last Friday.
