Comelec sets special polls for Zambales congressman

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has scheduled on Feb. 4 a special election for congressman of the second district of Zambales, a resolution released yesterday showed.

The special election will fill in the vacancy left by Antonio Diaz, who died in August.

Under Resolution No. 9304, the Comelec said those interested to take over Diaz may file their certificates of candidacy from Jan. 16 to Jan. 18.

The Comelec had set the election period from Dec. 21 to Feb. 14. The campaign period had been set from Jan. 19 to Feb. 2.
