2 dead, 20 hurt in tollway mishap

BATANGAS ,Philippines – Two people were killed while 20 others were hurt when an Asian utility vehicle (AUV) they were riding turned over along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road Tollway in Malvar town yesterday morning.

Senior Police Officer 1 Marlon Fetizanan, Malvar police investigator, identified the fatalities as Delfin Calazara, driver of an Isuzu van (XEL-673) and John Paul Atienza, employee of Right Goods Philippines Inc.

Calazara and Atienza died while being treated at Mary Mediatrix Hospital.

Police reports showed that the victims were on their way to work in Calamba, Laguna from Lipa City when the back tire of the AUV burst upon reaching the northbound lane of Km 70 in Barangay San Juan at around 6 a.m.
