DDB lauds Dagupan vice mayor for anti-drug campaign

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – This city’s vice mayor and 18 other police and local officials were commended during the 39th anniversary celebration of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) at the Quezon City Sports Club recently for their efforts in the all-out campaign against illegal drugs.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez was elated with the recognition accorded to her by the DDB led by its Secretary Antonio Villar Jr. for her preventive actions against the drug menace by engaging the youth in various activities like sports, skills and talent enhancement and other education-related projects to make them productive citizens.

Villar lauded the vice mayor for supporting the DDB’s “Barkada Kontra Droga’’ drive.

In accepting the award, Fernandez said she is inspired to launch more projects to make Dagupan City drug-free. 

She also thanked Villar for acting on their request for the establishment of a P10-million drug rehabilitation center in the city.

Aside from Fernandez, the other awardees were Iligan City Rep. Vicente Belmonte Jr.; Misamis Occidental Rep. Loreto Leo Ocampos; Negros Oriental Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong; Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn Uy; Bacolod City Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez; Baguio City Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas; Parole and Probation Administrator Manuel Go.

Department of Education (DepEd)-Region 12 director Isabelita Borres; DepEd-Region 3 education program supervisor for secondary level Rodrigo Jimenez; Sylvia Vivian Galang of DepEd-Region 12; SPO3 Fernando Galang of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force of the Philippine National Police; Superintendent Reynaldo Maclang of the Dipolog City police; Conchita Silvestre of DepEd-Baguio City; NPUM Health Ministries director Lhalaine Alfanoso; Justice Delilah Magtolis of the Judicial Academy; Maria Theresa Bacud, officer of the DepEd’s Health Education and Promotion Office; the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force; and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
