'Oplan Angry Birds' launched in Laguna

LAGUNA ,Philippines  – Police have stepped up the campaign against drug traffickers, loose firearms and fugitives in this province as it recently launched “Oplan Angry Birds.”

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna provincial director, told The STAR, the province is a pilot area for “Oplan Angry Birds,” which aims to serve at least 200 search and arrest warrants issued by different courts in the province per day.

He said the project is an offshoot of “Oplan Wildcat and Checkmate,” which the police recently launched.

Cruz said 190 persons were detained in various jails including 76 who were arrested for drug cases, and 14 firearms seized since Oplan Angry Birds was launched on Nov. 7.
