DENR clonal nursery upgraded

- Rhodina Villanueva -

MANILA, Philippines - To help meet the target of planting 1.5 billion seedlings until 2016 under the government’s National Greening Program (NGP), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has upgraded its old clonal nursery in Babatgon, Leyte.

DENR-Region 8 executive director Rogelio Trinidad said the nursery located 33 kilometers north of Tacloban City, has been transformed into a modern macro-somatic clonal facility, which doubles as a regional training center.

Trinidad said the Regional Tree Propagation Complex and Training Center is expected to enhance the capability of the DENR field office to produce high-quality planting materials for the NGP.
