8 Bataan fishermen missing

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines  – Eight more fishermen from Barangay Sisiman, Mariveles, Bataan, remained missing since their fishing boats capsized at the height of recent typhoons, police said yesterday.

A police report identified the fishermen as Arcadio Maratos, Christian Tomas, Aki Orebia and a certain Boyet, all crew members of FB Princess Angela; and   Noel Hecotibo, Wilfredo Torendan, Charlie Toribia and Oscar Garcia, Jr., of FB Queen Lorena 2.

Police said the eight fishermen were among the 17 who went to Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro in two fishing boats last Sept. 17 and 21.

Two fishermen were reported killed, including the captain of FB Princess Angela identified as Alfredo Arnado, and Danny Torefranca, a crew member of FB Queen Lorena, after their fishing boat was hit by giant waves and capsized on Sept. 28.

The seven survivors, who have been rescued were confined at the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City after undergoing medical attention in an Iba hospital.
