Maguindanao to buy dredging machine
MANILA, Philippines - Maguindanao is planning to purchase a dredging machine to address perennial flooding in the province.
Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu said he has asked the Sanguniang Panlalawigan to pass a resolution allowing the provincial government to secure an P80-million loan for the horizontal dredge.
The loan is still subject to the approval of the Land Bank of the Philippines, he said.
Once purchased, the machine is expected to deepen Buluan Lake, Liguasan Marsh, and Rio Grande River, which have overflowed because of heavy rains and water hyacinths.
More than 30,000 families have been displaced by floods in the province’s 16 municipalities, Mangudadatu said.
