- Eva Visperas -

BANI, Pangasinan, Philippines  – A couple was gunned down in their residence in Barangay Arwas here Friday night while they were watching a television news program.

Inspector Victor Abenojar, this town’s deputy police chief, told The STAR yesterday that the fatalities were identified as Buenaventura Oliveros, 52, a tricycle driver and his wife, Zenaida, 42, a manicurist.

He said reports showed that at least two suspects barged inside the Oliveros home and shot Zenaida twice in her left temple and neck while Buenaventura was hit in his left eyebrow, neck, stomach and the left side of his body.

The couple died on the spot. Their 12-year-old daughter was spared after pleading to the suspects.

A certain Larry Cabalbag, who was positively identified by the couple’s daughter, was arrested after few hours after the incident.
