Laguna boy, 4, dead, 4 hurt in landslide

LAGUNA, Philippines  – A four-year-old boy was killed while four others, including three other children, sustained injuries in a landslide near a public cemetery in San Pedro town here yesterday afternoon, police said.

Superintendent Kirby John Kraft, San Pedro police chief, identified the fatality as Rommel Gonzales, and those hurt as Totoy Guerreva, 3; Nonoy Navarro, 1; his brother Loloy, 9, and their mother Dang Navarro.

Kraft said the landslide took place at around 3 p.m. in an old quarrying site near San Pedro’s old public cemetery in Barangay San Antonio.

He said the landslide caused an Isuzu Elf truck to roll down a ravine and smash into three houses, including the Navarros.’ – Ed Amoroso, Cecille Suerte Felipe
