DOH warns of disease outbreaks in flood-hit areas

- Dino Balabo -

MALOLOS CITY, Philippines  – The Department of Health (DOH) yesterday warned of possible outbreak of leptospirosis and H1NI flu in flood-hit areas in Bulacan and Pampanga.

The DOH also called for sanitation in these areas and provision of “garbage boats” that will collect wastes dumped into the floodwaters.

“We are monitoring possible outbreak of leptospirosis in Bulacan and Pampanga because our experience after typhoon ‘Ondoy’ showed high incidence of diseases,” said Dr. Eric Tayag of the DOH Epidemiology Center.
