Anti-kidnap task force up in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines - Security forces yesterday activated a task force that would address kidnappings and other crimes in some parts of Mindanao.
Brig. Gen. Jose Mabanta Jr., Armed Forces deputy chief for operations, said the creation of Task Force Ranao would boost coordination between military and police forces in these areas.
Mabanta said the task force was activated through the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council, Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces, and its objective “is basically anti-kidnapping.”
Heading the task force is Chief Superintendent Francisco Cristobal, deputy director for integrated police operations for Western Mindanao, while Col. Daniel Lucero, commander of the Army’s 104th Infantry Brigade, will serve as its deputy commander.
