8 Davao City Hall workers sacked for using drugs

DAVAO CITY ,Philippines  – Mayor Sara Duterte has fired eight City Hall employees who were earlier found positive for illegal drug use in random testing conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Region 11 office. 

Five of them were from the Traffic Management Center, and the rest from the local 911 Emergency Rescue Unit. 

In previous drug testing, six policemen and two members of the Army-led Task Force Davao were also found to be positive for illegal drug use. 

Duterte said the city government would not tolerate the us ofe illegal drugs among its employees.

Retired Col. Mario Verner Monsanto, chief of the Central Communication and Emergency Response Center or the 911 Rescue Unit, said he is thinking of requiring all job applicants to undergo drug testing.
