Dumaguete City, Philippines – It could be mere coincidence but former sweethearts President Aquino and Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad bumped into each other again yesterday when they came here for different engagements.
Sources said Soledad was the first to greet the President , when she saw him at the airport here shortly before he boarded a flight back to Manila at about 3 p.m.
Soledad was then waiting for her 4:30 p.m. Cebu Pacific flight to Manila.
The coincidental meeting could have happened earlier in the day had Soledad, whose nearly two-year relationship with Aquino ended in October 2010, did not miss her 7 a.m. Philippine Airlines (PR291) flight to this city.
The President came here for the inauguration of the P265-million, 11,000 square-meter Mercado de Bais in Bais City and visit to LinkSy IT Park.
Soledad, meantime, was invited as guest of honor to the yearly Kinaiyahan Festival in nearby Dauin town.
When asked to comment about his possible meeting with Soledad, Aquino said he had no idea about his former girlfriend’s engagement here.
“Malay ko kung ano ang gagawin niya dito. I am here for this market inauguration,” he said.
In his speech, Aquino did not hide his admiration for Bais City Mayor Karen Villanueva, a single 31-year-old law student and daughter of former mayor Hector Villanueva, said to be a relative of the former press secretary.
He said he knew Villanueva since the May 2010 presidential elections adding that she is the most beautiful among the pretty girls in this city. –
