10 divers rescued off Cebu

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 10 divers, including seven Koreans, whose motorized boat reportedly capsized near Nalusuan Island in Cebu last Thursday.

PCG spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Algier Ricafrente said the motorized boat Abay Toshi left Maribago, Lapu-Lapu for a diving expedition at Cordova, Cebu at around 9 a.m. on Thursday.

However, at around 11 a.m. Thursday, one of its outriggers broke due to big waves.

The PCG identified the six guests as Choi Hyuk, 28; Bae Hong Ryeol, 29; Sung Tae Kyung, 29; Young Sook, 25; Bo Bae Park, 28; and Hewon Jung, 29. Also onboard were dive master Jeffrey Sabonillo, 27; dive instructor Cho Dock Hee, 29, who also operates the Sun & Sun Dive Shop in Lapu-Lapu City, and two unidentified Filipino crewmembers.

The victims were brought back to the dive shop in Maribago, Lapu-lapu City in good physical condition.
