3 killed in ship fire

MANILA, Philippines - A Cebu-bound vessel caught fire off Bohol before noon yesterday, killing two passengers and a crewmember, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

PCG-Cebu District commander Commodore Cecil Chen said M/V Island Fast Craft 1 caught fire at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, some four nautical miles from the port of Tubigon, Bohol.

Only the crewman fatality was identified as Abalardo Torrevillas, 50.

The ship, owned by Island Shipping Corp., was carrying 67 passengers – 62 adults, four children and one infant – and eight crewmen.
