3 killed in vehicular accidents in Negros

Bacolod City ,Philippines  – Three people were killed in separate road accidents in the cities of Bacolod and Bago, and E. B. Magalona town in Negros Occidental over the weekend, police said.

Police identified the fatalities as Indian national Gurcej Singh, 40, Girlie Garrucho, 15, of Barangay Banago Bacolod City, and Salvador Malunes, 29, of Bago City.

Singh’s car collided head on with a funeral car, when he tried to overtake a Ceres Liner bus Sunday. He was declared dead on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center, while the driver of the funeral car, Oscar de la Torre, was also injured.

Police Officer 3 Xavier Rama, traffic investigator of the Bacolod City Traffic Management Unit, said Garrucho was crossing San Juan Street near Domingo Lacson National High School when he was hit by a jeepney and died on the spot.

City police commander, Chief Inspector Simeon Gane, meanwhile said Malunes was crossing the street in Barangay Calumangan, Bago City when hit by a speeding ambulance of La Castellana town. He was rushed to the Bago City District Hospital but died minutes later.
