Ranking NPA leader surrenders

-

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – A ranking leader and medical officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered last Monday to the Army’s 5th Infantry Division in North Luzon after spending 29 years in the underground movement.

Returnee Lolito Dao-yan, who hails from Kalinga, told the military that he joined the NPA in 1982 after the rebels used him as an errand boy.

The military said Dao-yan is now a beneficiary of the government’s Social Integration Program and was given an initial financial assistance of P10,000. – Ding Cervantes, Charlie Lagasca, Artemio Dumlao, Raymund Catindig
