Actor, 5 pals hurt in Antipolo road mishap

MANILA, Philippines - Actor Joseph Bitangcol and five companions sustained injuries when the vehicle they were riding was sideswiped by a dump truck in Antipolo City yesterday.

Bitangcol, 27, and his companions were rushed by bystanders to the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center for body and head injuries.

Aside from Bitangcol, those injured were Venessa Beeina, 26; Karria Esleta Nee, 27; Mark Cendeno, 29; James de Luna, 21; and Leandro Victor Baldos, 29.

Bitangcol and his companions were on their way to Antipolo City onboard a red Mitsubishi Montero Sports (license plate PUQ 739) at around 4:40 a.m. yesterday when they met the accident.

Upon reaching a curve along Sumulong Highway right in front of the Fatima College in Barangay Sta. Cruz, their vehicle was sideswiped by a dump truck (RBF 442) driven by Victor Deltran, 22.

Because of the strong impact, the victims’ vehicle turned turtle.

Police are readying charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries against Deltran.
