2,176 women offloaded at Clark airport

- Ding Cervantes -

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – At least 2,176 women have been prevented since January from boarding their flights at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) here as they were suspected to have been illegally recruited to work in other countries.

Adelina Apostol, regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, said the women were referred to three social workers assigned at the DMIA for counseling.

There are cases where victims of human trafficking are forced to work as prostitutes in foreign lands.
