Agusan Sur's female cop chief up for promotion

BUTUAN CITY  ,Philippines – Police Inspector Charity Galvez, who led her team in repelling communist rebels who tried to overrun their police station in Trento town in Agusan del Sur, even though they were outnumbered, has been recommended for promotion.

Caraga police Regional Director Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Rafal yesterday said he also recommended the promotion of Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur municipal police station chief Inspector Lloyd Mercado and his six men who reinforced the beleaguered Trento municipal police station.

 Rafal commended Galvez and her men for standing their ground, forcing the 250 heavily armed New People’s Army rebels, who attacked their police station last Saturday, to withdraw.

“We have to give incentives to the men and women of the PNP who deserved it para magsilbing gabay at inspiration sa iba nating mga kapulisan that bravery and gallantry to defend not only your police station but the community and people you are serving pays,” Rafal said.
