PMA entrance exams set Aug. 28

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – The Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) is urging young residents of the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras and Central Luzon to grab the opportunity for a “promising military career” by taking the 2011 entrance examinations for the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) on Aug. 28.

In a bulletin, Nolcom said the PMA exams are open to all Filipino citizens aged 17 to 22, have never been married, at least 5’4’’ tall for males and 5’2” for females, at least high school graduates with a general average of 85 percent or higher, of good moral character, and physically and mentally fit for active military service.

Sixteen-year-olds can also apply provided they meet these qualifications, Nolcom said.

Nolcom said the PMA entrance exams cover algebra and geometry, grammar and composition, reading and comprehension, verbal and numerical reasoning, and pattern analysis.

The exams will be held simultaneously in over 37 venues across the country, including the cities of Baguio, Laoag, Dagupan, Tuguegarao, Cabanatuan, Tarlac, and San Fernando (Pampanga) and the towns of Bontoc in Mt. Province and Bayombong in Nueva Vizcaya.
