Cotabato dentist hurt in attack; helper slain

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A young dentist here is now fighting for her life after she was clubbed repeatedly by still unidentified attackers in a supposed robbery Wednesday night, police said.

The victim, Shiela Mae Ong, is now in the intensive care unit for head injuries she sustained during the attack in her clinic along S.K. Pendatun Avenue here.

Ong’s helper, Benjie Marcos, was not as lucky. Police found him dead, his head bashed with a hard object.

Police and barangay officials said they are convinced that two to three men perpetrated the attack, apparently to rob the clinic.
