Leptospirosis hits Zambo folk

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health confirmed yesterday that leptospirosis caused the death of four people and hospitalization of 16 others in a village in Sibuco, Zamboanga City in the past two months.

Health Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag said results of laboratory exams conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine showed that 10 out of the 20 patients in Barangay Mantibo were diagnosed with leptospirosis.
