4 soldiers hurt in Cotabato clash

MANILA, Philippines - Four soldiers were wounded in a clash with New People’s Army rebels in Magpet, Cotabato last Saturday, the military said.

Col. Prudencio Asto, spokesman of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said men of the 57th Infantry battalion encountered around 40 rebels in Barangay Manobo, Magpet town, resulting in a firefight.

The clash, which lasted for more than an hour, left four soldiers wounded, namely Pfcs. Arnold Tombado and Samad Tasil, and Privates Leovinson Capacio and Rufino Eludo.
