6 crime suspects slain, 4 nabbed in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna ,Philippines  – Six persons on the police’s wanted list were killed while four others were arrested during police operations in separate towns in Laguna over the weekend.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna provincial director, said two suspected motorcycle thieves in Los Baños town died in a clash on Wednesday and four robbery suspects in Calamba City were killed in a shootout early Friday.

Cruz said the gang robbed a woman Jessa Belle Salibio and took away the service firearm of security guard Emmanuel de la Cruz, 33, at the Jac Liner bus terminal in Barangay Turbina before the encounter with policemen happened.

In Calamba City, police also arrested gang leader Frederick Marudo, a nephew of retired police general Alfredo Marudo, and his two cohorts Rolando Exconde Jr. and Dondon Lumontad.

The Marudo gang was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a businesswoman in San Pedro in 2008 and a Batangas drug supplier and also engaged in robbery and hijacking activities in Region 4.

In San Pedro town, police captured yesterday morning at Sitio Putol, Barangay Cuyab, Michael Manansala who was tagged as the killer of PO1 Venerado Pantino in a shootout on June 15 in Taguig City.
