Robin Padilla's brother arrested

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga ,Philippines  – An older brother of actor Robin Padilla was arrested early yesterday for allegedly beating his wife.

Chief Inspector Luisito Tan, chief of police at Station 4 in Angeles City, said investigators also found out that Royette Padilla has a standing warrant of arrest for homicide in Angeles in 1999.

Tan said security police from the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) initially responded to a call for help from V-8 bar inside the freeport about Padilla beating a woman who turned out to be his wife Jane, 39.

Tan said Padilla was reportedly irked when his wife insisted on going home when he had yet to finish his barrel of beer so he started hitting and pushing her.

When CDC cops arrived, Padilla carried his five-year-old son, rushed to his Nissan Safari van and sped toward Clark’s main gate. Padilla initially refused to alight from his vehicle when pulled over by responding policemen.

Tan said he was concerned that the incident would develop into a semi-hostage situation so he took it upon himself to talk to Padilla.

“We wanted the matter to be resolved before daybreak since there was an Asean golf tournament scheduled at Clark and the conflict was at Clark’s main gate,” he added.

Tan said he was able to convince Padilla to go to the police station where the latter’s wife also filed a complaint against him.
