BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya ,Philippines – A drunk cop shot dead his two colleagues and two other civilians in a remote Ifugao town over the weekend.
Superintendent Rufino Pascua, Ifugao deputy police director, identified the fatalities as PO1 Leobineb Binwihan, PO1 Tom Udan and civilians Marcial Calyaen and Benjamin Madino.
PO1 Mark Davis Dulnuan shot the victims while they were having a drinking spree at a wedding anniversary in the town’s poblacion Saturday night.
The police officers, all from the police regional public safety battalion, were assigned in Tinoc, a far-flung town lying along the mountain boundary of Ifugao, Benguet and Nueva Vizcaya.
Reports said Dulnuan shot the victims with his service .45 caliber pistol as evidenced by the six spent shells recovered at the crime scene. All the victims died on the spot.
“There was no reported provocation. All were surprised as everybody was in festive mood. They were singing altogether. And suddenly successive shots were heard and the victims were found lying on the ground,” Pascua said.
The suspect, who was arrested immediately, is now under the custody of the Ifugao police office while charges are being readied against him.
