Honest trike driver feted in Angeles

- Ding Cervantes -

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Tourism officials honored a tricycle driver here who returned an expensive cellular phone left in his tricycle by an Indian national working at Clark Freeport.

Ronaldo Tiotuico, regional director of the Department of Tourism (DOT), even held a ceremony at the Marlim Mansions in Barangay Balibago where Salvador Dizon III turned over the iPhone 4 unit to its owner Venky Venkatesan, program manager at Sutherland in Clark. The DOT awarded Dizon a citation for honesty.

Tiotuico said Dizon, a father of four and tricycle driver for the last 16 years, is known for returning valuables, including wallets and bags to his passengers.

The ceremony in honor of Dizon coincided with the multi-agency sponsored seminar on effective customer service attended by 700 tricycle drivers, which was initiated by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan “to train drivers on honesty, value formation and customer relations.”
