Chinese nabbed in Pampanga shabu lab raid

- Ding Cervantes -

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines  – Authorities scored anew in their campaign against illegal drugs with the discovery of a “kitchen-type” shabu laboratory in a house in Barangay Sta. Monica, Sta. Rita town this province last Thursday.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 3 director Roybel Sanchez said a Chinese chemist named Ali Ang and a teenager were arrested during the raid.

The raiding team was armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Amor Reyes of the Manila regional trial court.

Sanchez said Ang was arrested in 2009 after he was caught with one kilo of shabu in Cotabato City but was later released from jail.

Sanchez said residents tipped off PDEA agents of suspicious chemicals being stored in the house in Barangay Sta. Monica.

“Our agents waited for the suspects to produce finished shabu before carrying out the operation to make sure we would have an airtight case,” he said.
