Police nab suspected ammo supplier
ILAGAN, Isabela ,Philippines – Police arrested over the weekend a couple in Barangay Bulala, Calamaniugan town, alleged to be supplying ammunition to criminal syndicates and New People’s Army (NPA) rebels.
Chief Inspector Romeo Macapaz, chief of Cagayan police intelligence and investigation section, identified the couple as Richard and Carina Chan. He said criminal charges for illegal possession of ammunition were also filed against the Chans.
Macapaz said the couple has been using their farm supply store in Barangay Bulala as a front for their ammunition trade.
Police seized 600 pieces of various bullets for .45 caliber, 30 caliber, 9mm, gauge 12 shotgun and undetermined pieces of ammunition magazines for various firearms.
Authorities are still investigating the couple’s possible links to criminal groups.
