17 Pangasinan election officers to be reshuffled
DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – An initial 17 election officers (EOs) in different towns and cities of Pangasinan face a revamp effective July 1 to make them more effective in performing their duties, the provincial election supervisor said the other day.
Lawyer Temie Lambino told The STAR that he announced this in a meeting with the EOs on Thursday, adding that he would forward the list of those who would be reshuffled to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for approval.
Lambino said the revamp of EOs is a normal procedure as those who are “overstaying” in their post or those who have reached the maximum four years of assignment in a particular town or city have to be reshuffled under Section 44 of Republic Act 8189.
Most of those who would be reassigned come from the first district of Pangasinan, he said.
However, those who would be retiring this year would be allowed to remain in their posts, he added.
Lambino said the “rigodon” of EOs would also be in preparation for the 2013 elections to maintain impartiality and prevent familiarity of EOs with incumbent or prospective candidates.
The province has 44 municipal and four city EOs.
