NPA rebel surrenders in Camarines Sur

CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City, Philippines  – Another New People’s Army guerilla surrendered to an Army unit in Barangay Mabalodbalod, in Tigaon, Camarines Sur on Monday.

Citing reports from Lt. Ernesto Cruz, commanding officer of the 42nd Infantry Battalion, 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM), spokesperson Colonel Generoso Bolina said the NPA rebel was identified as Alfredo Morco Nedia alias “Pidoy.”

Bolina said Pidoy also yielded an M16 rifle with a magazine loaded with 15 rounds of live ammunitions.

He said Pidoy is undergoing custodial debriefing after which his application for the government’s Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program will be processed.

Lt. Gen. Roland Detabali, SOLCOM commander, commended the AFP forces in the area for a job well done saying the surrender of Pidoy is a setback for the CPP-NPA in the area.
