Bukidnon warehouse owner hunted for 20 stolen vehicles

-

DAVAO CITY, Philippines  – Authorities are now hunting the owner of the warehouse in Talakag, Bukidnon where more than 20 luxury vehicles believed to have been stolen in the US were found Tuesday.

Northern Mindanao regional police director Chief Superintendent Conrado Laza said Allan Bigcas, a known dealer of luxury cars in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City, has remained at large.

“Bigcas eluded authorities who raided his warehouse. He is now at large. Police are now looking for him,” Laza said.

A joint team from the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bukidnon provincial police office, in coordination with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) initially searched a warehouse in Cagayan de Oro City and led the authorities to search the residence of Bigcas in Talakag leading to the discovery of the luxury vehicles.

Laza said Bigcas would have to answer for the large number of luxury vehicles in his possession, particularly after they were reported stolen recently in Houston, Texas.

Investigators are now tracing the paper trail of the shipment of the said vehicles, which Laza said, would help enlighten how the seized vehicles reached a remote warehouse in Talakag.

Northern Mindanao Customs Collector Anju Castigador earlier denied any knowledge with regard to the shipment that included such luxury vehicles as Corvette, Chevrolet, Tahoe SUV, as well as Harley Davidson big bikes.

The search for a vehicle owned by a Hollywood writer and was earlier stolen in Texas, led to the discovery of the Talakag warehouse.    – With AP
